First official Neko Neko release in over 6 months! Walking to Greenpoint one evening, Harrison began to get philosophical, and we decided to film a short piece about the distractions of modern living. All dialog was improvised and approved by the Neko Neko Galactic Broadcasting Company. Music by Mother Falcon (motherfalconmusic.com/) VIMEO MAN 06/28/2011

Howdy Y'all. Derek here, all the way in the big apple, still. We just released a new Vimeo Original Short called "Texas Intern". Before I moved up here, I had an extremely vague idea of a skit series I wanted to make at Vimeo. It was based around a Cowboy who had never heard of the internet. So here is the first of the series. News you knew you didn't know, NOW! 04/13/2011
Lots of on-goings and happenstances here in Austin, y'all. Revenge of the Chip. First of all, our skits EXCESSIVE USE OF THE FORCE and 110 Gruesome Murders: Night of the Ninja played last Sunday at Alamo Drafthouse Theater in the JumpCut Film Festival along with some other super great short films from other UT students. We didn't win, which is great news as it perpetuates our ongoing streak of never winning anything ever. The real news, however is of what is to come! In the next FEW weeks, here's what we're doing: 1. Releasing a 7 part video blog with Cosmic Mammoth Productions about Bicycle Safety. 2. Going to New Orleans to film CADDYWHOMPUS and the other fine fellas at Chinquapin Records as they celebrate their BLOCK PARTY. 3. Going to Angola Prison to watch and film the LAST PRISON RODEO IN AMERICA. 4. Releasing a beautiful acoustic set of our frienemies the MARMALAKES. 5. Releasing several skits that would make a monk under a vow of silence go "Hey, that was pretty funny." 6. Making some promos for INDYMOGUL as they re-adjust for youtube reign and align themselves to become the next big thing in everything. If you haven't clicked on EVERY link I've posted, then you're wasting your time. Or I'm wasting mine. Or whatever. Anywho, check back in often! There's good stuff coming your way like a freight train... A freight train with the brakes out... and full of dynamite! Look out! There's a baby on the tracks! A baby bunny! It can't stop in time! DING DING DING! Someone pull the switch! DING DING! SCREECH! BOOOOOM! You did it, the bunny is safe! Hop along, little soldier. But all that dynamite... its dead... Well sorry for wasting your time, everyone who reads this blog. So I guess thats just you guys, Derek and Trevor. Sorry guys. Harrison BestFriendzForever Post 04/11/2011
This here blog post is all about the wonderful things our friends are currently doing! DOO DOO BUTTER's epic musical "Biggy Gee: Cums to America"! Biggy Gee was shot between 2006-2008, it tells the epic tale of young girl's love for a lively blue dildo. Doo Doo Butter composed all the music themselves, while Elle Kuan edited the master piece during a grueling whisky-filled Chicago winter. They had the official release party over winter break and now it's made its way to the interweb world! WATCH IT. ALL OF IT. In other news, Chris 'Lost in the Woods' Rehm, has released a split cassette with Native America (otherwise known as Ross Farbe)! You can download both songs here! And if the download doesn't work, Chris Rehm promises you AT LEAST one child. So hit em' up! Neko Neko will be releasing a few things later this week, so please do hold your breath! Because we ALWAYS can be counted on! DISCLAIMER : (NEKO NEKO WILL NOT BE HELD LIABLE FOR ANY BRAIN DAMAGE OR INEVITABLE DEATH) SXSW House Parties Photo Reel 03/29/2011
Two parties had we, the Skanky Possum and NNASA, during South By South West. These ams the photos thats what was left on Jono's picture-machine what when the parties done. I like photo reels because the slight changes in photos give you a better feel of the situation, better by far than single frames. Plus if I were to post them on facebook you would just click through them as fast as you could anyway. Well here we can put some music behind it. All of these photos were simply dropped into a timeline at 5 frames each, so you see every photo from the party whether we like it or not; any syncing that the video seems to achieve with the song is purely the result of your overly analytical mind creating the semblance of pattern where there is none because it vainly seeks predictability in a widely random universe, and as such has the habit of thinking it sees serendipitous instances of interweaving intervals when there are in fact, none. That may seem like a lot to ramble about in a blog post about a couple parties, but I'm pretty sure no one reads these things anyway. To my love Samantha, Dr. Nekonian SXSW 2011: A Retro-Spective 03/25/2011
This was the first part of our South By South West experience, filmin stuff for CNN and VIMEO. This is the second week of SXSW as documented by Neko Neko Films. Less interviews with strangers, more house parties and police officers. Enjoy. New HOLY SKIT! 'Excessive Use of the Force' 03/21/2011
Revenge of the Chip. Here is a skit for all you Star Wars fans, so that should be everybody. 'Excessive Use of the Force' is the first of many skits to be coming your way this Spring! We filmed this right before I took off for NYC, it's been a long time coming. We actually tried making a skit similar to this back in high school, but SOMEONE couldn't choke realistically enough. Yours, Derek Neko Neko: SPRING EQUINOX EDITION 03/21/2011
CNN iReporters and Vimeo creators team up to show their view of Austin and SXSW. Winter's icy grip has lessened here in Texas, making way for Summer's violent blistering rages of heat, and we return to school from spring break sweat-drenched and already busy. Last month, Derek "D-Train" Beck hooked us up with the fine folks at Vimeo, who were themselves working with CNN iReports to cover SXSW 2011, so we spent last week filming as hard as we could as much as we dared all over Austin along with a dozen other iReporters. It was cool as a pool. (Also the credits have my name twice and Jono's never, which is hilarious cause he did most of it) Along with this piece, we will be making a video of our own for SXSW, which will be coming out on the 27th of this month, so WATCH OUT! We also played host to great friends from all over the states who came to party in Austin this week, and hosted a show at NNASA with a ton of awesome bands. This will all be discussed in detail later, so please check in laterz. "The Future is the Time for thinking about the Past." -A song I heard Harrison |
